2016 Syrah

"The Fire Vintage" Vintage 2016
Split Rock Ranch, Paso Robles

Two weeks before our 2016 harvest, a wildfire broke out South of Lake Nacimiento in Paso Robles and quickly spread toward our home and vineyards at Split Rock Ranch. We were told to evacuate for safety and left our property in the hands of the local fire crews assigned to protect the area. Although dozens of homes in the area were destroyed, CalFire used DC10 Bombers, helicopter drops, and over 4,000 fire personnel to fight the two-week blaze and our vineyards and buildings were mostly spared. As an expression of our gratitude, and to honor the men and women in the fire service, proceeds from this 2016 Syrah will be donated directly to local fire unions in support of their efforts.
